Biography

This is a small bio. I'm sure that I've forgot some things.
- I'm a C and Perl coder, a little python, php and C++.
- I've some small patches for FLOSS projects among them: xchat, openbox pangofication, lineakd, A small patch for gtksourceview, drupal and probably more.
- Using GNU/Linux thus being involved in FLOSS since late 1999/beginning of 2000.
- I've been part of the local GNU/Linux community since the beginning, Started by joining Linux-Egypt, I was a forum moderator there.
- I'm currently one of the people behind EGLUG "Egyptian GNU/Linux user group".
- I've been working under the Arabeyes umbrella among other small things:
- Katoob, A text editor for Arabic "And probably more languages".
- The current Arabbix maintainer.
- Started the Qamoose project.
- Helped in Drupal translation.
- Contributed to Action Apps translation.
- Under linux-egypt/EGLUG umbrella among other small things:
- As 1 of the EGLUG admins, I'm directly responsible for the website, server and the LUG.
- A successful install fest on the 1st of Mai, 2004. With about 2000-3000 attender during the whole 8 hours.
- Visiting some universities and giving sessions about FLOSS with other members.
- Participating in various EGLUG events "sessions, siminars, ...etc"
- Gave a session on effective bug reporting for the EGLUG members.
- Helped MENGOS installing a GNU/Linux lab.
- Helped setting up the GNU/Linux lab at the culture wheel for the use in various activities including EGLUG ones.
- Participating in a GNU/Linux crash course for a new NGO.
- Contributing to phaeronix, The Egyptian LFS based live CD.
- Helped giving a GNU/Linux course for the Menia university TAs.
- Gave a presentation in the FOSS and development conference on the free desktop and state of the arabic support.
- Paticipated in asia source as one of the localization track facilitators.
- I was an admin. for a company hosting a high traffic website.
- Currently I'm working for a new company building solutions based on FLOSS.
