Katoob is a light weight, multi lingual, BIDI-aware text editor.
It supports opening and saving files in multiple encodings.
The main support is for Arabic language, But language specific features can be added.
It should run on most BSD and POSIX compliant operating systems.

Hi Mohammed, I have just installed katoob on Debian ( running sid ), it's working great, but there is error msg that shows up everytime I run katoob :
"There is no spellchecking dictionary available, Please make sure that you have installed at least one."
what should I install ?

Wouldn't it be nice to have an embedded katoob in firefox that replaces the textarea widget ?
It won't be that useful for those who rarely writes in arabic. But it will be a must-have for anyone who regularly posts or modifies arabic content.
Figure out how and I'll try to do it ;-)

There's at least one Firefox extension that lets you edit text in web forms with an external editor of your choice: "It's All Text" at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4125 . I presume it would work with katoob.
