Warty - Outside.
Warty - Inside.
ubuntu-warty-out
ubuntu-warty-in
ubuntu-warty-install-cd
ubuntu-warty-live-cd
I scanned them myself, Updating!
And my 10 Ubuntu CDs are here!.
They arrived yesterday, But My mother gave them to me today when I came back.
Cool, My father took one, I phoned Alaa to tell him, He asked for one too, I'll keep one for myself, perhaps two. Today, the 4th of Decembe, Amr Kamel asked me for ubuntu, I took one and he is supposed to try and install it, Mandrake wasn't playing nicely with his centrino!
Hmm, I originally wanted them for eglug, Though I'm really wondering how am I going to distribute them ? Probably the 1st people asking for a CD'll get a CD.
But guess what ? I love holding them in my hand. A big thanks...
For the guys at ubuntu!
For the great people behind Debian.
For the great people behind GNU/Linux.

The 4th step towards freedom!

Submitted by msameer on Fri, 03/12/2004 - 3:03am

This is a 4 days thing too ;-)
This started the last Saturday, I decided to go stamp my graduation certificate from the ministry of exterior, Actually you stamp them from a kiosk which is not in a very clean place ;)
My faculty gives you a temporarily certification, After the final results, And another permanent one, Which you can obtain after approximately 1 year.
I had the temporarily ones, And I decided to go stamp them.
OK, Off to the kiosk, No you have to stamp it from Cairo university.
No no, Go to the place near faculty of applied arts, Took the car and went there.
I found a nice guy in front of the building and decided to ask him as i didn't know the place, He told me to wake along, "Fuck that guy! This was the place and this guy was drunk maybe", I said to myself when I realized that it was the place.
Went there, No, The photos on the certificate must be stamped from the back. Guys, It's stamped from the front side part on the photo and part on the paper itself. NO, Go stamp the backside, These are the rules.
OK, Off to the faculty, Got them stamped in 2 minutes, Went back, Guys they are stamped now, Nice, now wait.
I had to wait for about 40 minutes till I've got my papers stamped, And the whore responsible for stamping them kept talking with her neighbor and going through some papers on her desk without doing anything useful.
Off to the kiosk again, Thank god no people were there waiting to get their papers stamped, Finished in 5 minutes, Back home.
Next day, Sunday, I decided to go to the faculty to get the permanent certification and stamp it, I was there just to know that the people responsible weren't there. Why ? One of them is on her vacation and the other one went to the hospital. Back home.
Next day, Monday, I was there, But whatever I did, I wasn't able to find someone to give me the damn paper. I found a guy who told me: Look, Both of will be here tomorrow.
The forth day, Which which was Tuesday, I was there, 5 minutes and I had the paper after paying 15 pounds, Off to the building beside the applied arts collage, She told me to wait for 30 minutes to get the papers stamped, After 35 minutes I found that they are waiting for the guy to do the final step which to revise everything "He was praying, Can't say anything ;-)". after another 5 minutes or so, I had it, Had to stamp it from 2 rooms "actually a guy did all this for me and took 10 pounds. He also handled the papers the 1st time, But my father gave him 2 pounds, But i didn't have change."
Off to the kiosk, Oh! So many people here, This'll take time, Thank god a guy whispered at me "Do you need anything from the kiosk ?". Yes, Take this and stamp it for me, The fees were supposed to be 11 pounds, He said they are 16. OK, No discussion, Take your damned 16 pounds and finish me.
5 minutes I had the paper stamped between my hands, As I wasn't sure about the fees, I decided to give him 2 pounds. I'd have waited long if it wasn't him "Actually, You'll find many guys like him here in Egypt in most offices, And they are useful if you ask me" ;-)
Done! Back to sleep :-)

Debugging session at last

Submitted by msameer on Sun, 28/11/2004 - 10:36am

Here it's, The Long awaited debugging session By me, This shoul've been long ago, But I was busy, then Ramadan.
phaeron won't come as he discovered that he has an exam tomorrow and he only knew yesterday.
I didn't sleep since yesterday ~ 8 PM, The problem is that i'm afraid to sleep as i might not wake up, I was at the faculty today morning "I'll tell you about the fourth step towards freedom soon ;-)"
I finished the outline today in the morning before I go down.
After writing it in emacs, I failed to rewrite it using lyx and openoffice. I tried abiword and it was fine, But when I tried to open it in openoffice to fix the eglug logo, The bullets didn't neither in the RTF nor in the DOC, So I had to reformat it again,
I think I learned a bit more about using openoffice, But what I feel is that when using word processors you concentrate on the formatting more than the content ;-)
Anyway, waiting for the session time.

I don't think this is correct, But here it's:
You Are a Social Blogger!

Your blog is more of a semi-private affair for your friends. It's how you keep in touch... sharing stories, jokes, and pics.
Thanks Roba, I knew about this from this blog entry.

Bye Bye our car

Submitted by msameer on Mon, 22/11/2004 - 6:48pm

Yes, Our car was smashed today in an accident.
I was supposed to go to pay the DSL fees "I hadn't pay for September, October and November". I slept at 9 am So I'll wake up at 1 or so. I don't know what happened, Just my sister waking me up and saying that the driver came and that the car is not working so I told her guh, I won't go ;-)
The rest of our family were coming today, I woke up again at 6, An hour or so, They arrived at home, And I knew that she had a car accident this morning and that the car was smashed.
Anyway, Thank god everyone is fine and nothing bad happened.
I don't have a camera to take photos, And I didn't see the car yet!

Heya el molokheia betet2ma3 ?

Submitted by msameer on Sat, 20/11/2004 - 9:29pm

I'm updating this as I've got new info. Thanks for the anonymous comment ;-)
This was an innocent question by whirlpool in Alaa's birthday last Thursday.
I was the first one to laugh, Damn good.
To those unaware, molokheia is an Egyptian food, We cook the green leaves of a plant, I don't know what is it called in English Jew's mallow, But i know the Latin name "Corchorus alitorius"!."Corchorus olitorius" in Latin.
Tet2ama3 is a process done on Okra before cooking, Which means "To cut the stemm end off the pod"
So simply we can translate it to: Do you cut the stem end off Jew's mallow leaves ? Which very funny if you ask me ;-)

2 unrelated things

Submitted by msameer on Wed, 17/11/2004 - 8:16am

Morning ;-)
The 1st thing is that peksystray is now listed in gnomefiles.org
The 2nd thing is that one of my friends told me that the brother of the Egyptian president Hosney Mubarak is dead "I never knew he had a brother", And that his funeral is in a mosque near the guy's home.
He doesn't have a cam, So he couldn't take photos.
Though he was planning to go down today and buy things, But now no one'll be able to leave Nasr City, Simply go to hell all people there, The president brother is more important.

From mhdir to mbox.

Submitted by msameer on Wed, 17/11/2004 - 1:57am

Something strange happened today, I woke up to find that mutt - my mail client - has forgotten all the new labeled and flagged messages. This happened to me about 2 times in the last year or so. It's very annoying especially when you have +2000 email in your inbox folder.
I'm almost sure that it's not mutt fault.
I tried to mark some emails as new, but the marke are gone whenever any new email arrives, Now this is really new!
I'm almost sure it's rcvstore fault. But how do u debug/fix something like that!
I'm using mhdir mailboxes, I wanted to convert them to mbox format as mutt takes long to open a mailbox, And takes long time to scan the mailbox for changes, But I was lazy to do it.
Thanks google, I found a nice script, mh2mbox from here.
Though I had to convert them one by one, But It wasn't a hard process. And after all, I had a Chance to clean some unused mailboxes ;-)
Anyway, After modifying me ~/.procmailrc, Everything is smooth now.
